Wilkie Grove Baptist Church

Named after Sidney and Indiana Wilkie. They gave 2 1/8 acres of land to put the building on. It is located un Eastern Burke Co. About a mile from the Catawba County line. It falls under the Catawba Baptist Association.  Gail Lowery

 

 

Wilkey Baptist Church

Named after the circuit rider minister who was Rev. William Wilkey and his son, Joab Wilkey.  It is located in Black Mountain, North Carolina. It is in the Buncombe Baptist Association. The church was not built till the turn of the century.(1900). They held church in a building on the Curstine property .

They started building the church a few miles from where it is. The first was never completed. So the Curstine's donated the land and the WILKEY BAPTIST CHURCH was built. Gail Lowery

 

Silent Run Baptist Church

Located near Beulah, Hopkins County, Kentucky in a beautiful scenic valley surrounded by woody hills. It is not known if this is the Church of Jonathan Jackson Wilkie.   Jonathan's second wife was Jane Sisk Rhye, daughter of Milton Sisk and granddaughter of Rev. Timothy Sisk.

Jonathan and Jane's first born, Isabelle who died at the age of one year, is buried there as well as other Sisks.

Jonathan and Jane are buried in the Beulah Cemetery.
