Dear Diary:
Ruby and Turner Cullen came this afternoon. Pauline brought Beulah home
this afternoon. We looked for them this morning but they came by Hubert's
and Tommy's and ate dinner and then Hubert and Tommy came with them. Frances
came and stayed awhile until Pauline came. Aunt Nan was buried today.
She died yesterday.
April 20th, Monday
Dear Diary:
I have been reading the Titanac book. Artie, Marvin, Audrey and Magaline
came this afternoon and guess what we did? Played cards! Marvin heard
from Buster today. Beulah got her two new dresses, two new pairs of shoes,
two pairs of stockings, an underslip and white hat at Hopkinsville while
visiting Pauline. She left my slippers but Pauline is going to mail them
to me.
April 21st, Tuesday
Dear Diary:
We got up this morning and it was raining. Mother was so glad of the water
caught in the barrels that she started using it so she could catch some
more. Marvin has been down here this afternoon. Mother went down to see
how Dany was getting along. It stopped raining this afternoon.
April 22nd, Wednesday
Dear Diary:
Gothard, Clara, Mother, Dad and I went to Madisonville just after dinner
and just got back. Floyd came down this morning and had dinner with us.
Mother cooked some cracklin bread. Floyd sure does love cracklin corn
bread. I got a pair of socks and a pair of stocking also some slippers
at Madisonville. Dad got some white paint for the house. It is pretty
cold now and the roads were pretty bad after all the rain we had.
April 23rd, Thursday
Dear Diary:
Dad, Finis and Artie went to Dawson this morning. We didn;t cook any dinner
but will have to get supper. Marvin has been down and have been playing
cards. Audrey came and played a few games with us. I am fixing to cook
a pie for supper so will have to quit writing now.
April 24th, Friday
Dear Diary:
Dad went over to the Clark Place this afternoon and Mother and I went
down to Danies toplay cards. Dad brought me some fruit yesterday deom
Dawson that Clyde sent. Dad doesn't buy much except the necessary things
like flour, sugar, etc., Mrs. Jane came awhile this afternoon. Mother
gave her some quilt pieces. It sprinkled rain a little. I wrote to Edna
and Rich today.
April 25th, Saturday
Dear Diary:
Rosa called this morning for Finis to meet Aunt Bet ( Finis' sister )
at the train. Finis met her and she is at their house now. We were up
there awhile this afternoon. We got a letter from Buster yesterday and
I wrote to him this morning. It has sprinkled a little today. I have been
reading. I sure do enjoy reading stories but have the headache so much.
