June 14th, Sunday
Dear Diary:
Uncle Eanis started to Dawson this morning on foot. We haven't been doing
much of anything. It has been raining and no one had been here all day.
But just as we started to go to bed Clyde drove up. Because of the rain
we were not looking for him. He decided a while ago to stay all night
with us.
June 15th, Monday
Dear Diary:
Clyde went home this morning before I got up. He had to get back to work.
I have been reading this afternoon. Mother went down to Danies. Beulah
is going to stay all night with Mrs. Betty and Aunt Cynthia. Dad has been
sick at his stomach today.
June 16, Tuesday
Dear Diary:
Mother washed clothes this morning and I cooked most of the dinner. Beulah
is kindly sick today but Dad is better. Buster is plowing corn today.
He plowed corn yesterday too. I have been up to Artie's. We pitched horse
shoes and I won. Mother has been up at Mrs. Betty's house. Beulah, Artie
and I played cards for awhile.
June 17th, Wednesday
Dear Diary:
The day has passed and its been like most other days except Finis is sick
and I helped Mother milk the cows. I certainly got tired and am not over
it yet. Artie ironed some for Mother today. I read a good book and we
have been visiting Mrs. Betty again. Aunt Cynthia hasn't taken the measles
yet.
June 18th, Thursday
Dear Diary:
Beulah went with Gothard, Clara and Lou Ella to the Dunn graveyard to
Lois Ligon's funeral this afternoon. I went down down here to Jane Herions
funeral. Mother went and stayed with Mrs. Betty while Aunt Cynthia went.
I milked a cow again tonight. It has been so hot today. We have almost
"burned down."
June 19th, Friday
Dear Diary:
Aunt Cynthia and Mrs. Betty are staying all day with us. It is so hot
we can hardly live. Buster and Gothard went to Providence this afternoon
tto get Buster's car. He bought a 1929 Chevrolet Coupe. Buster and some
more boys are going to the lake tonight. He gave only $250.00 for the
car.
June 20th, Saturday
Dear Diary:
Beulah and I went to see Louella. Buster took us and we were aiming to
go to a graveyard cleaning off but it rained, We have just gotten back
home. Lou Ella walked part of the way with us. We got so muddy. Louella
is coming tomorrow to stay all day with us. Mother said she had been up
at Mrs. Betty's house.
