July 6th, Monday
Dear Diary:
Dad, Buster and Finis wwent over to the Clark Place to work this morning.
Mother and Artie have been washing clothes. Finis ate here because Artie
didn't get through washing in time to cook. We went down to Dany's this
afternoon. I had to milk the cows tonight because Finis didn't get in
from work until late.
July 7th, Tuesday
Dear Diary:
Mother went to pick some blackberries early this morning before it got
hot. Artie and Beulah Franklin went too. I wrote to Carrie and Ken as
soon as I got up. Beulah and I are cooking dinner and not doing a very
good job, We went down to Dany's awhile to play cards. I milked the cows
again tonight. Beulah can't milk. Have been reading some which I shouldn't
be doing as I have a headache.
July 8th, Wed.
Dear Diary:
I have ironed a little this morning but have been reading this afternoon.
Frances and Dortha Ceicl came by and stayed awhile. They has started to
the store. Mother went down to Danies as usual. I milked the cows again
for Finis but to be honest, Beulah and I don't do much.
July 9th, Thursday
Dear Diary:
Audrey Franklin and I went over to Aunt Ella's. I got her to cut me a
pattern from a dress. When we got there she was out picking blackberries
so we had to wait. It was about 7 o'clock when we got back home. Ford
and Magaline are going to move in the house with Aunt Cynthia soon.
July 10th, Friday
Dear Diary:
We were aiming to go to Dawson this morning but Buster has to go to Providence
so we went this afternoon. I got myself some 10 cents per yard print to
make my dress and a pair of $1.95 beach pajamas. Dad got Mother a pair
of everyday slippers. She was down at Dany's when we got back. My nose
started to bleeding a while ago and I thought it was never going to stop.
July 11th, Saturday
Dear Diary:
Have been making the dress out of the print I got at Dawson. I cut it
out yesterday afternoon. This is the first dress I have ever made. Mother
is reading in bed now. I am going up to Arties and show them my new dress
which I have just finished. Mother and Dad said I did awful well being
my first. Beulah never does anything like that.
