July 12, Sunday
Dear Diary:
Ford, Magaline and family moved this morning pretty early. Aunt Wallace,
Dara Curtis and some more have been here this afternoon. Beulah went to
Louellas' this afternoon as Buster went to see John and Opal Fox. There
was supposed to be a baseball game at Silent Run(1)
today but teh Hall boys didn't come. Mother went but didn't stay long.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams were there and took Beulah and Louella to the ball
game at Nebo.
July 13th, Monday
Dear Diary:
Mother washed clothes this morning. I cooked a cake and both Beulah and
I cooked dinner. Dad started working over on the other place in the hay.
Buster and Finis have gone to Madisonville. We got a letter from Edna
this morning saying if they didn't go to Mobile, Ala. they would be here
the 19trh and stay two weeks.
July 14th, Tuesday
Dear Diary:
This morning we got a letter from Carrie and Ken saying they would be
here Sunday. They are coming a week earlier than we expected. Iley is
helping Dad in the hay. He eats dinner with us. Mother has been painting
the floors. We can hardly wait until Sun. comes.
July 15th, Wednesday
Dear Diary:
We have been pretty busy cleaning house. I have not been anywhere around
here much lately. I got kinda mad at Artie today. I am not going to say
mad but I am not going to have anything to do with her from now on. We
are beginning to need some rain. It has been awful hot but has been a
little bit cooler today than it has been in quite awhile.
July 16th, Thursday
Dear Diary:
It is awful hot again today. Wish a cool spell would come while Carrie
and Ken are here. It is always so hot. Mother went down to Dany's awhile
this afternoon. I read some and Beulah went up to Arties. Ural Harper
came this afternoon and stayed a long time. We sure do have fun with him
altho he is rather pitiful.
July 17th, Friday
Dear Diary:
I got upo this morning sick but I cooked a cake and did a few other things
anyway. We got a letter from Nola. They are coming the fourth Sunday.
Opal Fox is helping Dad on the farm. It has been springling a little.
Becky Mathews came and stayed awhile this morning and also this afternoon.
July 18th, Saturday
Dear Diary:
I was sick last night and have been all day today. But am feeling better
this afternoon. Opal Fox worked for Dad again this morning. I was aiming
to bake another cake today and do several things but didn't feel like
it. Mother cooked a ham. Mrs Jane Brown is here now.
Footnotes:
1. Silent Run is a wee place. At the end of a road is
the Silent Run Baptist Church. One fact leads me to believe this is the
Church where my ggrandfather J. J. Wilkie preached. This is where his
daughter of one year is buried... Isabella. Jonathan is buried at Beulah.
