Note: Don, if it is not too much trouble, could I ask you to make a correcti on? John H. Bowman son of Joseph Collette Bowman was called "Pete" and I h ave recently learned his wife's name was Robinson. Sybil was his first w ife and was the mother of the children. He married Frances Landers whe n he was up in years. This family was dealt a sad hand and I will shar e some of it (confidentially, please -) Sybil and "Pete" married when s he was very young. The children came quickly, she had a nervous break d own (more likely postpartum blues for which women were committed to san itoriums or asylums) and was sent to the state hospital. Through unfor tunate happenings, the children ended up in an orphan's home. They wer e adopted or given over to guardians. It was depression time and the f amilies did not keep in contact. We know the older two girls went to O regon with an aunt. They had a good life, married, had families, then b oth died with cancer when they were older. We know one so!
n is in Texas, but do now know what happened to Sybil or the other chil dren. At some point, your Wilkey/Wilkie book might be a wonderful way f or some of them to find their roots.
Thanks again for all you do. Hope you have a great New Year.
Sincerely,
Fran
