James and his wife and children left Kingston, Ontario, in Sep 1824 f or London, England. He was broke and in poor health and died in London s ometime between 15 Sep and 11 Nov 1824 (the later is the date that his m other died).
A Military Pension paid to Dorothea Wilkie of 30 pounds from July 1 825 - late husband a storekeeper at Kingston. This record was found at t he PRO KEW - London by Averill Legg, David's aunt.
Following is more proof re James Wilkie, being an Ordnance Storekee per in Kingston, Ontario, and having died in 1824.
According to Sir David Wilkie's will, dated 21 July 1825, and prov ed 10 Aug 1841 in Edinburgh, "...my brother James Wilkie late Ordinence S tore Keeper Kingston in Upper Canada deceased...." - James Wilkie had d ied by July 1825. (Probate 21 Dec 1841- Edinburgh Sheriff Court Edinbur gh.)
